Graduate Studies!!

THIS PAGE IS DEDICATED TO PERIODIC ANNOUNCEMENTS AND I REQUEST YOU TO PROVIDE YOUR VALUABLE SUGGESTIONS THROUGH COMMENTS

  • Well friends! from 2nd week of January, I am starting a new bi-weekly special. I would try to evaluate a university and try to present the pros & cons; if possible, and the program features as well. I believe that I have the necessary tools to formulate these articles! This would be in addition to the normal posts which i chip in encompassing my trysts with the cyberworld! I would try and cover both business and engineering programs! Do forgive me if due to unforeseen circumstances the bi-weekly venture turns into a weekly one….or if there is an even longer delay!! Also I urge you to be patient and understanding if my posts are not upto the mark! I am doing my level best to give the finest possible experience to my readers! - deferred; may start from March.
  • Also starting from 2nd week of January would be my 2008 rankings for all engineering programs! I am trying to incorporate only the top 25 programs in each discipline and would also try and include some other associated data!! - started along with briefs on engineering majors and future prospect! please note that the rankings provided by me are not rankings per say. I have listed some good schools (programs) I personally know of to be an authority in these fields. I, however, do concede that the data has been sourced from very competant agencies (USNEWS and world-rankings) and therefore is reliable (consider the ranking to be in the same order as the listing is). Also, I have refrained from providing any detailed description and links to prevent copyright violation! At a more personal level, I would urge you to go through the programs individually and make decisions. Use these lists as indicators at best! Color Coding: Blue – USA, Green – India, Red – Europe.
  • Form 2nd week of January, I am going to come up with a “future perspective” of the top few engineering disciplines. Once I am done with them, I would try and write up articles showing similar trends in other disciplines (non-engineering)!!! - started
  • I am presently writing an article (rather an autobiographical exploit of sorts) to depict the ups and downs of my grad application experiences till date! I am going to come out with such articles from time to time in the hope of creating an online journal of sorts till I eventually graduate - started
  • 10 Jan 2008 - RED LETTER DAY!! Well friends…..I must extend my whole hearted thanks and warmest regards for all the faith and good wishes showered on me in the last few days! gradstudies has reached a major milestone today. Today I was able to post the 100th article in less than 2 months! I am hopeful that I would be able to reach the even figure of 500 by the time I move into my next phase of graduate stuides! Also noteworthy is the 1000 visits which the blog has seen since it shifted to wordpress (in 13 days!!) making it the 2nd best blog in education category (based on hits) with the top position well in sight. Adding the mamoth 1260 hits that it achieved in blogger in a month, the total hits currently stand at more than 2200 (in less than 2 months)! I am extremely happy with the response and I assure my readers of newer, more interesting articles in the days to come! I also hope that you do participate more proactively in the discussions and help this blog realize its true potential. Thank you once again as without your support, this dream would have never turned into reality!
  • I finally decided I just had to provide bookmarking tools for individual posts! And believe it or not, it took my mom’s criticism to get me going! She was going through a few posts and told me how very useless some of them were :-P . Anyhow, it made me realize that there might be people out there who would like to bookmark posts and not the entire blog. So please bear with me as I finish up adding the buttons on all posts (It is taking about 5 minutes for each post and my maximum has been 30 minutes at a stretch; i am a lazy bum – guilty as charged). Also you might find some weird stuff on the sidebars or the blog as well. Things might not look right or might not be fitting in at times. The reason is that I am trying to experiment with new things and ideas (so to that end, please bear with me as I am but a newbie ;-) and a victim of my never-ending curiosity).
  • 6 Feb 2008 - As I have already mentioned; being a newbie, I face a number of challenges! I suddenly realized that many of my hosted downloads were not working (using filefactory) and moreover, the parent site have started posting objectionable material of the worst possible kind! Keeping in mind the growing issues I was facing, I decided to shift to rapidshare. Please co-operate for 24 hours while I shift all files to rapidshare. I deeply regret the inconvenience which many of you would have faced and apologize for the same. I would also request that whenever you see such issues, just inform me so that I can rectify them for mutual benefit…. we are after-all a fraternity – remember! - done – please check the sidebar (download section!)
  • I have streamlined the links (as they were pretty confusing with the growing list). I have also segregated the recommended section. Hope this helps!
  • I am sure most of you would have been quite upset with the fact that my posts have become irregular at best. I do concede that I have been unable to do justice to my blog for the last few months as I have been quite busy with my admission. However, with my program set to start 3 weeks from now, I am afraid, the situation is not going to return to the hay-days of Last December. Having said that, I do promise to chip in from time to time to make sure that something new is provided for the readers at least twice a month. I sincerely hope that my readers will understand and be patient! Regards…..
